I am excited to announce my re-election campaign and I hope you will join me as we continue to champion Norfolk’s Students!
When I ran for the School Board four years ago, it was on the bold premise that we should put students first and provide them equitable access to high-quality public education with a continued focus on “Diversity and Equity” for all students. Our students deserve leaders, whether in the classroom or boardroom, who have high expectations and include parents and the community, as true partners, in the pursuit of student success.
I unapologetically believe that all children can learn when we have our best teachers and the best resources in the classroom
Like many of you, I want the confidence that our children will receive a world-class education, and our public schools can meet the challenge to prepare our children for the college and/or career of their dreams.
Now, as we rebuild and reimagine public education in the wake of a pandemic, our schools and families still face many challenges:
Too many of our students are unhoused and lack access to healthy food and quality internet.
A need for more enrollment in free, high-quality preschool education, advanced courses, and workforce certifications.
Competent leaders do not simply identify problems but listen to those we serve and identify sound solutions.
As your Norfolk School Board representative, I will continue the work to:
Prioritize Teacher retention, and recruitment training by elevating their value and ensuring we have the best teachers and resources supporting them in the classroom.
Ensure every child has access to options and opportunities to improve math and literacy rates, increase wraparound services, and community partnerships.
Invest in our aging schools to provide access to technology, learning devices, and high-speed internet as well as a safe and secure learning environment.
Focus on excellent leadership through collaboration with elected officials, and the business community to obtain resources for our children.
Our public schools should reflect the diversity, excellence, and potential of our city. I am running for re-election to see that work through. I hope I can count on your vote on November 8, 2022.
